If I were to approach you and ask: “Tell me, why do you believe in Christ? Why are you a Christian? Is it the intelligent thing to do?” What would you tell me? How would you respond? Think about it – don’t just pass this by. Truly spend some time and think about how YOU would respond to this question.
Would your response be something along the lines of: “Well, I have seen Christ change my life!” True – I’ve seen Him change my life, but what about the people who believe Buddha has changed their lives?
How about this one: “It’s how I was raised.” Or, “I believe it because I want to earn points with God.” What is YOUR honest response?
One of the things I do in my spare time is evangelism. I love it, and the Lord uses it to teach me a ton. Many Christians I speak to say, “Well, Christianity is just having blind faith.” Is that true? If it is, is that what I want to follow? Not at all! What about 1 Peter 3:15: “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear”. Does this point to “blind faith”?
Have you heard this one? “You believe what you want to believe, and I will believe what I want to believe, and we will all get to the place we want to go.” In otherwords, what is the point of Christ? Along those lines, I have people who don’t defend Christ, but they sure defend Christ’s teaching about “LOVE” …
Do you have an answer to the questions above?
So, one of my desires to do is start a facebook/blog about how to defend Christianity intelligently, as well as encourage Christians to stand on God’s word – all of it – for truth. I can’t promise I’ll post something daily –but I do want to start posting some of these things – I do want to start equipping Christians. So, for those who are Christians, please pray that God gives me wisdom and direction, that He speaks through me and quiets my own heart, and that He goes before me. Please pray that God will grant me humility and allow me to speak with simplicity. Please pray for protection.
As I go through this process, please feel free to post responses, or questions. Feel free to add to the “discussion” – at least what I hope will be a discussion.
